Civic Garden Center
glaserworks is associated with Meisner + Associates / Land Vision (landscape architects) in designing a 2000 square foot green roof demonstration project to implement the Civic Garden Center's vision of environmental stewardship. Key features of the project include a classroom, an outdoor demonstration area, four types of green roof (intensive, semi-intensive, extensive and experiemental), pervious paving, a bio-swale, raingardens, a sediment chamber and a cistern.
Green and recycled materials will be used extensively. Indeed, the building itself will be recycled; it was once a filling station. The green roof system will be a donation, as will the planting materials that 'green' it. The project will be designed to include in-kind donations.
The project is to be built on the roof of an old SOHIO gas station immediatley north of the Garden Center to provide a place for storage of materials for the Neighboorhood Gardens Program and expand their limited parking facilites.
This project is being designed as a Platinum Certified building within the LEED criteria established by the USGBC.
