646 Main Street Condominiums
This project is the adaptive reuse of a commercial building into condominiums on top of a story of retail. The original cast-in-place concrete building was built in 1920 and is located in downtown Cincinnati's Main Street Historic District.
Our task was to create spacious, contemporary dwellings in a building with natural light opportunities at only its front, rear, and roof, while keeping the integrity of the historic envelop of the structure. We used key architectural elements of the original building - ribbed glass, silver colored aluminum and stainless steel - throughout the contemporary design in both the interior and exterior.
glaserworks incorporated innovative storage systems, sliding panels, and glass interior partitions to give flexibility and openness to the otherwise small spaces. We helped the developer overcome complex building code issues inherent in adaptive reuse projects with adept use of Article 34 of the Ohio Basic Building Code.
The project is currently under construction.
