All Saints Church
Over the course of fifty years and three building projects, the nave of the church had evolved into a T-shape. Congregants sat in three separate wings. The north wing, which had been built as a subdividable, multi-purpose room, now held the choir and a fifth of the congregation.
Our major task was to modify this north wing so that it fit-aesthetically and acoustically-with the rest of the church. Other desiderata included reworking the sanctuary, the baptismal font and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, improving the lighting and sound systems, and creating an Easter Fire Pit.
At the north wing we inserted a new structural system beneath the existing and raised the ceiling to create a two-story space that fit the rest of the church. We used columns panelized the ceilings in a manner that tied-together the interior of the church. We changed the materials in the ceiling of the north and east wings to produce uniform acoustics for the whole. We added lighting to set off the beautiful Meinrad limestone walls that line the east and south wings and we incorporated part of the old font into the new sanctuary.
