Findlay Market
The Market House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. glaserworks was asked to enlarge the building without destroying its character. We extended the interior one bay at the east and west and added saddle-bags to the north and south sides. We hid the mechanicals in a slot between the existing building and the new.
As Findlay Market is a place where people of all races and income levels meet, one of our major objectives was to develop a color and materials palette that was urbane not surburban. We took our key from the colors of the vegetables and fruits that are sold in the market.
Our work on Findlay Market includes the Market Building, the streets that form a plaza around it, the north buildings (shops with residential above), the parking lot and the Farmer's Market shed. It is our hope that the Findlay Market will become a catalyst for development in the Brewery District which surrounds it.
The project has received awards from AIA Ohio, AIA Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Preservation Association.
