Studio 3
Studio 3 works with leaders and institutions to make Cincinnati a cosmopolitan and pedestrian city. The Studio has worked with Downtown Cincinnati Incorporated (DCI), Cincinnati City Center Development Corporation (3CDC), the Brewery District and the University of Cincinnati in helping define new neighborhoods. The Studio is leading an initiative to stimulate development in downtown and Over the Rhine by building a streetcar system.
The Studio sees itself as a steward of Cincinnati's architectural legacy. Among the venerable buildings on which we have worked are the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Music Hall, Cincinnati Art Museum, and Findlay Market.
The Studio is dedicated to the proposition that experience and insights gained on one type of project (e.g., a museum) can be applied to other types (e.g., a zoo education center). (See the Architect is no Ballerina .) The discerning client will find that our experience with many types of buildings allows us to come up with unexpected ideas.
Many of the Studio's buildings and places lie in the public realm. Among them are Centennial Plaza, The Museum Center and Paul Brown Stadium. It is important for our community that such buildings transcend the ordinary and speak eloquently about the cultural life of our city.
The Studio knows that enlightened design is not an architect selling a client on a particular style of design. It is rather a collaborative process in which client, architect and consultant negotiate together to produce the best building given the time, the dollars and the circumstance.
Mike Moose, design leader, is the immediate past President of the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati. During his tenure in the office the firm has won more than thirty AIA design awards.
Among the projects of the Studio not mentioned above are the following.
- St. Mary Church and School,
- All Saints Catholic Church,
- Harold C. Schott Education Center (a LEED compliant building at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden),
- National Steamboat Monument,
- Cheviot Elementary School,
- The Zoo Animal Hospital,
- 525 Vine Street,
- Centennial Plaza, and
- Yeatman's Cove.
We are firm believers in Occam's Razor.
