
glaserworks, architect for the project, designed the hospital to complement the CREW building, and serve as a quiet, background building for the Zoo's many exhibits. Yet the hospital staff, after years of working in a window-less facility, wanted a building with abundant daylight. With this in mind, the architects designed the building around an outdoor courtyard with the lobby featuring a west-facing glass wall and a large floor opening for the stair, allowing daylight to reach deep into many of the interior and lower floor spaces.
Exterior materials include cement board siding, aluminum windows and cedar trellis canopies.
