glaserworks helped the Cincinnati Community visualize its downtown.
Cincinnati's downtown, like most Midwestern downtowns, has areas within it that have distinctive scales and characters. Downtown Cincinnati, Inc. (DCI) asked glaserworks to help define those areas, and create a vision for one particular area to aid its growth.
We analyzed the 5 areas of Cincinnati's downtown that had burgeoning residential life, and provided a master plan for one of them: the St. Xavier Park area. Now known as the 8th Street Design District, this area of downtown had a mix of uses including office, residential, entertainment and religious. The St. Xavier Park area had a wide range of office types (from the Procter & Gamble headquarters along the area's southern edge to offices for creative firms such as glaserworks itself) and a mostly underutilized building stock (including several historic printing buildings) within just a few blocks.
The area is also a gateway point for a collection of roads including an interstate highway, major & minor arterials, and collector streets.
Glaserworks helped DCI envision how to build on the area's strengths and mitigate its challenges, and created what would become a blueprint for the future of the area.
