glaserworks is a pioneer in sustainable initiatives. Even before sustainability became an accepted criterion in building design in the United States, our firm embraced sustainability not as an additive design feature but as part of a holistic approach to design. Over the past twenty years, glaserworks has completed work that integrates energy conservation, renewable energy resources, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and the use of healthy materials from local sources. We are the region's leader in sustainable design and have the list of 'firsts' to prove it:
In addition to achieving LEED certification for many projects, we pursue sustainable design aspects in nearly all of our projects and pursuits. We advocate for compact urban development patterns and codes (such as Form-Based Codes) and we help change regulations that inhibit good sustainable practices (such as allowing rainwater harvesting) to governments and public agencies. Our staff holds leadership positions in various organizations including the United States Green Building Council.
glaserworks has also implemented sustainable strategies in our workplace. We provide bus passes to employees and have bike storage and changing facilities. We have installed motion sensor lighting, energy-efficient bulbs, low-flow solar powered automatic faucets and programmable thermostats in our own facilities, and we use green cleaning products.
